On Thursday, July 26, more than 100 international students, host families, Japanese conversation partners, faculty, and staff participated in the Short-Term International Student Course Completion Ceremony and Party. The festivities began with certificates and speeches in the university auditorium and concluded with dinner, dances and a slideshow in the cafeteria.

In her speech to the assembled students, families, faculty, and staff, Fuzhou University student HuiXian Chen said, "Before I came to Japan, I wasn't sure whether it was worth studying abroad, but now looking back, I wish I could stay even longer."

University of Idaho student Andy Schiewe followed with a spech reminding students to treasure their new friendships. "Please don`t forget your Japanese friends, Chinese friends, Korean friends, French friends, and American friends."

In addition to the featured speakers, Olivia Robertson (University of Central Lancashire) and DongHyeok Jeong (Pusan University of International Studies) received Certificates of Course Completion as representatives of the JASIN and NICS programs. All short-term international students who passed 12 or more credits will receive Certificates of Completion along with their transcripts in early to mid September.
