The third day of Fall 2012 JASIN Orientation included a campus tour, course registration overview, Health Check, and a detailed look at Nagasaki city transportation in time for the weekend.
Returning student Ashley Hughes and new staff member Emiko Ikari led students on an hour-long tour of the campus facilities to start the morning. The tour was followed by a brief introduction to course registration, outlining credit requirements, Traditional Japanese Arts and Martial Arts course options, and other registration procedures.
After lunch, students reviewed the university-produced Nagasaki Transportation Guide, covering important items such as late night bus and streetcar timetables as well as discount ticket guides and a list of facilities with free admission to international students.
The line for the Health Check was longer than expected, but the final student exam completed by 4 p.m., giving students an early start to the weekend.
While waiting for the exam, students filled out a brief survey on the first half of orientation. Per student feedback, there will be additional area maps available when orientation continues next week.
On Monday, students will have a free morning and arrive in the afternoon for accounting, language, and field trip orientation, as well as a lecture on the history of Nagasaki by Prof. Mark Tiedemann.
We hope all students have a relaxing and exciting weekend!
