2. Getting to School - Bus (From Togitsu)

Ampelos School Bus (Togitsu/Nagayo)

If you live in Togitsu (時津) or Nagayo (長与), you can reach the university by taking one of four free Ampelos (アンペロス) school buses. The bus departs Siebold University at 8:30, 10:10, 11:20, and 12:40 and runs a 20-minute route through Nagayo and Togitsu before arriving at the university. Be sure to confirm your boarding location with your host family.

To return home, take the Ampelos bus from the university at 4:40, 5:50, 7:00, or 8:30 p.m. When you board the bus, tell the driver where you would like to disembark. Note that the 8:30 p.m. bus goes to Sumiyoshi first, so the ride home will be longer than usual.

Tips

* When you get on the bus, greet the driver by saying "Onegai shimasu." Then, thank the driver by saying "Arigatou gozaimashita" when getting off the bus.

* If you intend to get off the bus before the university (for example, at a store in Togitsu), please inform the driver when you get on the bus, and try to sit near the front.

City Bus (Togitsu)

Any southbound bus that stops in Togitsu will continue south near the school. Get off at Motomura (元村) or Uchizaka (打坂), and walk up the hill to the university.

If you are coming from north of the Togitsu bus stop, such as near the Mr. Max superstore, note that some buses (without route numbers) turn east towards Nagayo. Catch any bus with a route number (6, 10, or 20), and it will go south towards the university and Sumiyoshi.
