As an undergrad I majored in world history with a focus on the Middle East and Asia. After graduating I was looking for an opportunity to work abroad when a professor of mine suggested teaching English in Japan for a year. I moved to Nagasaki in 2003 and since then have taught English at the kindergarten, elementary school, high school, and university level. Teaching at these different levels has allowed me to participate in, learn about, and enjoy various aspects of both Japanese society and the Japanese education system.
